Anasazi

These photographs were all taken in the springs of 2001 and 2003 and in the autumn of 2004 on back-packing photographic workshops on the Colorado Plateau in the USA. The photographs show the ruins of buildings and rock art left behind by the Anasazi, a native American people. It is believed that the most recent buildings and rock paintings date back over 800 years to a time 300 years before Columbus set sail and “discovered” America. The exact location of these pictues is not revealed due to the fragility of the remains and the danger that over-visiting will accelerate the deterioration of these remarkable reminders of a now-extinct civilisation.
